One of the faucets of the CESAH school and operation is the Millenium Auditorium, a space at the Delmas 83 property that can be rented out for parties, graduations, weddings, conferences, and everything in between! The profits from the auditorium business go directly back into the school's operations: paying for salaries, electricity, and operations. The goal has always been to create a self-supporting organization, one that no longer needs outside support one day, and the auditorium is one way we hope to achieve that. Millenium Auditorium is already well on its way, with at least one wedding or function being hosted consistently every week!
Not only does the auditorium support the grade school, it also helps the adult vocational school. With classes for adults in subjects ranging from English to Computer Studies, Event Planning and Decoration to Cooking and Catering, the students from the vocational school are hired from all events held at the auditorium. This not only provides a space for the students to hone their skills, but addition employment to over 70 individuals over the last 6 months.
One of the things I discussed with Rea was how they could better advertise the business to draw more attention and customers. One of her vocational students gave us the great idea of using business cards. He is an event planner and at every event he puts together he passes out cards to the guests so if they like what they see, they can keep him in mind for their parties. With his budding business and advertising he has been able to plan over 12 events in just the last 7 months!
So, with the aid of a friend back home who works in marketing, Leah Kidd, we designed business cards for the auditorium. Using donations from our generous donors we were able to print 800 business cards for the auditorium. It's our hope that by setting them up with the first several hundred printed cards we can help Millenium Auditorium, and thus CESAH and SOPUDEP, thrive further!
