"Bel soulyè bezwen mache nan tè a kanmenm."
- Beautiful shoes still have to walk on the ground.
I love this proverb, it's a constant reminder that no matter what airs we put on, we are all the same, and we all walk on the same ground. Another whirlwind of a week, trying to close up all loose ends before I am a country away and coordinating everything is a million times harder!
This week included a lot of class, both morning and evening. We have our final exam next week so we have been reviewing and preparing everyone for it! I also created a new email campaign for our Sanitary Napkin Project because a friend gave me the contact info of a few health NGOs in Haiti that might be interested. Check out some of the new artwork on our Sanitary Napkin Page.
I also worked on some flyers for our upcoming summer camp at CESAH. All of the money for the camp was raised by the work of Covington Elementary students so stay tuned for a "Funded Projects" post all about their work! One of the teachers at CESAH is having her baby shower this weekend so I put my watercolor skills to the test and painted a card for her that all the teachers will sign.
On Friday after school, several of the kids who don't have rides home till late were bored, so I came up with the idea of constructing and painting our own game of Twister! It turned out great and everyone had so much fun making it, and Daniel and I put it to the test once it dried (he may have won but I'm ready for a rematch). Sunday was Mother's Day in the US (in Haiti it is on May 26th) and not being able to spoil my own momma back home, I diverted my Mother's Day energy to make breakfast and a card for my other mother: Rea! She loved it!
Well that's all for now, because things are crazy trying to wrap everything up! Check out this fun video I made of my time here with all of the videos I have taken over the past four months.
As always, so happy to hear of the collaborations you're working on & endlessly admire your commitment to this beloved community...sending you big hugs /well wishes for wrapping up this chapter...I'm excited to see what becomes of all the "seeds" you've helped plant in the years to come, they are so lucky to have had you!
